The city of Atlanta was established in 1872 coinciding with the building of the Texas and Pacific Railroad. Captain P.R. Scott donated 10-acres of land to the railroad for the foundation of the new Atlanta which was the Georgia home of many early settlers. The area served as a gateway for early settlers of Texas.

Atlanta State Park
This park features swimming, boating, water skiing, fishing and hiking. Located about 14-miles northwest via FM 1154 off US 59 north or via FM 96 off Texas 77 west. Call 800-792-1112 for more information.
