This city, which sits on Poesta Creek, was originally named Maryville for Mary Hefferman. She was the last surviving member of a family that was killed in 1853. The city became the seat of Bee County in 1860 and was renamed "Beeville-on-the-Poesta". It is the largest retail center in the six-county area and is home of bee County College.

Beeville Art Gallery and Museum
Housed in the historic Esther Barnhart House, it was originally the home of the Hodges family. The home includes changing exhibits by Texas artists and other Texas Collections. Located at 401 E. Choke Canyon Reservoir
Located outside of Beeville, this 25,733-acre reservoir is located on the Frio River. It has been heavily stocked with largemouth, striped, and Florida bass, crappie, sunfish and channel and blue catfish. Camping, restrooms, and picnicking all available.

Corpus Christi Lake
This 19,336-acre reservoir is located on the Nueces River. It is popular for South Texans offering water sports and a recreational area. Swimming, boating, fishing, sailing and skiing. Large areas of submerged brush in the upper reaches provide prime fish habitat. Fishing camps and marinas are accessible at several spots around the shore.
