This city was established as the seat of Terry County in 1904, which was named for Colonel Benjamin Franklin Terry, who was the Confederate leader of Terry's Texas Rangers. Brownfield is also the principal incorporated town in the county and is situated at the intersection of five highway routes.

This 44-acre recreation site offers picnicking, a swimming pool and a playground all available free for up to four days. South of city limits along U.S. 62/385.
Terry County Historical Museum
Local heritage displays, pioneer kitchen, artifacts all located in a restored A. M. Brownfield Home. Located at 600 E. Cardwell. Open Tuesday - Friday 10am - noon; 1 - 3pm; Saturday noon - 4 pm. Closed last Saturday of the month. Call 806-637-2467 for more information.
